Sr. COBOL Engineer

Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid)

Type: 18‑month Contract-to-Hire

Overview

A major financial institution is expanding its mainframe engineering footprint in Minneapolis and is seeking a Sr. COBOL Engineer. This role focuses on strengthening core banking systems, modernizing components, improving batch/online performance, and guiding junior engineers.

This position is ideal for someone with deep Hogan and mainframe experience who can contribute quickly in a fast-moving, long-term environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and support COBOL (non‑Hogan) components, batch processing, JCL flows, and mainframe integrations.
  • Analyze and tune IMS and VSAM database/file access for performance and stability.
  • Support and enhance CICS transactions, online workflows, and region/pseudo‑conversational processing.
