Job Description

Our client is seeking a Freelance Senior Communications Strategist to support campaign and creative development across multiple channels. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and creative execution, ensuring a single campaign idea is translated into a cohesive, cross-channel system that is born for the environments audiences actually experience. The ideal candidate brings deep comms strategy expertise, strong cross-channel fluency, and a collaborative mindset.

  • This is a freelance engagement with a pay rate range from $70-85/hour.
  • Responsibilities:

  • Build the campaign system by defining channel roles, sequencing, messaging hierarchy, and modular asset plans that allow one idea to scale without dilution.

  • Partner closely with creative teams to co-develop channel-native ideas, bringing platform behaviors, formats, audience context, and best practices into concept development.

  • Stress-test campaign ideas early to ensure they hold up across touchpoints such as social, OLV, audio, and OOH, identifying where new mechanics are needed to support the idea.

  • Create clear guidance on how ideas flex across channels, outlining what must stay consistent, what can change, and what best-in-class expressions look like in each environment.

  • Collaborate with Communications Planning and Media teams to align creative expression with media placements, audience mindset, and platform behaviors.

  • Run the learning loop by using creative effectiveness signals and cross-channel performance data to refine messaging, formats, and sequencing, feeding insights back into future briefs.

  • Required Qualifications:

  • 7–10+ years of experience in communications planning or communications strategy, ideally within an agency or in-house agency environment.

  • Strong cross-channel fluency with the ability to build scalable frameworks and systems.

  • Proven experience working inside campaign and creative development processes.

  • Confident collaborator who partners effectively with creative teams.

  • Clear communicator and presenter, able to articulate strategic thinking and creative guidance.

  • This is a communications strategy role and not a media planning role.

  • What Success Looks Like:

  • A single campaign idea expressed coherently across channels and customer journeys.

  • Faster execution with fewer late-stage rewrites.

  • Strong alignment between creative and media decisions, driving improved performance by context.
