Job Description
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to serve as the technical owner of infrastructure, deployment systems, observability tooling, and operational automation supporting multiple SaaS platforms at Reunion Marketing. This role is central to ensuring high reliability, secure operations, and development velocity across our platforms, which include Altitude, KeyLift, Adapt, Market Data, GEO, internal tools, and a WordPress-based system.
The Senior DevOps Engineer is a systems thinker and force multiplier—not a tactical sysadmin. You will architect and maintain scalable, observable, cost-effective, and secure systems that support production, UAT, and QA environments in AWS. This role demands deep technical expertise, operational discipline, a passion for automation, and a proactive mindset for identifying and solving infrastructure and deployment challenges before they impact production.
You will work closely with software engineers, product leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our infrastructure supports rapid and safe delivery of high-quality software. Success in this role is measured by platform reliability, deployment safety, monitoring quality, cost efficiency, and developer productivity.
Responsibilities- Infrastructure Ownership (AWS): Architect and maintain secure and reliable AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, SES, EBS).
- Govern VPC and network segmentation, RDS performance, backup and recovery strategies.
- Ensure secure access strategies with IAM roles and enforce least-privilege principles.
- Implement and improve monitoring and logging via CloudWatch; integrate with SNS/OpsGenie/Slack.
- CI/CD & Deployment Automation: Design, build, and manage CI/CD pipelines (Laravel and Vue) with GitHub Actions or equivalent tools.
- Standardize versioning, rollback procedures, and deployment workflows.
- Improve deployment safety and eliminate risky, manual steps from release processes.
- Monitoring, Alerting & Incident Response: Lead the design of observability systems, focusing on async job monitoring, queue health, and system SLAs.
- Create actionable alerting thresholds and reduce false positives.
- Define incident response playbooks and escalation paths; integrate into alerting platforms.
- Security, Secrets & Access Governance: Lead IAM security architecture, secrets management, CVE response, and system hardening practices.
- Enforce secure configurations, reduce credential exposure, and maintain patch cycles.
- Cost Optimization & Financial Visibility: Monitor AWS costs, identify inefficiencies, and provide cost-performance tradeoff recommendations.
- Create cost dashboards and reporting tools for leadership visibility.
- Developer Enablement: Reduce friction in the development-to-deployment cycle by automating infrastructure tasks.
- Provide developers with tools and documentation to move quickly and safely across environments.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain infrastructure diagrams, deployment workflows, runbooks, and incident response guides.
- Drive operational knowledge transfer and ensure team-wide clarity on systems ownership.
- Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field).
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required.
- 6+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
- Proven hands-on AWS production infrastructure ownership.
- Experience supporting SaaS or multi-application environments.
- Strong CI/CD engineering background (GitHub Actions preferred).
- Track record of designing and owning monitoring, alerting, and deployment frameworks.
- Proficiency in AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, CloudWatch, S3.
- Familiarity with Linux administration and MySQL tuning.
- CI/CD systems, GitHub, Git workflows, and secure credential handling.
- Networking and security architecture fundamentals.
- Complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Infrastructure-as-code, automation, and scripting mindset.
- Ability to proactively identify system weaknesses and introduce scalable solutions.
- Strong communication skills, particularly for conveying risk and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Able to work independently and guide teams toward scalable, reliable outcomes.
