Senior Electrical Project Engineer – Full time, Permanent – Start ASAPAbout The Role

As a Senior Electrical Project Engineer, you will provide expert electrical engineering support for our onshore renewable energy business in Australia. Your focus will be on Electrical Balance Of Plant (E‑BoP) design and farm/plant layout across all project phases—development, construction, operation, and decommissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and review E‑BoP concepts and execution designs, ensuring compliance with Australian and international standards.
  • Develop technical specifications, drawings, and reports for wind, solar, and battery projects.
  • Support regulatory approvals, including environmental and building permits.
  • Manage RFPs for engineering services, evaluate proposals, and recommend suppliers.
  • Oversee tendering, negotiation, and procurement for electrical works.
  • Coordinate grid connection processes and maintain technical documentation.
  • Provide technical oversight during construction, including site visits and validation of works.
  • Participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests for assets and components.
  • Collect and maintain as‑built documentation.
  • Review contractor designs for consistency with project requirements.
  • Support technical due diligence for acquisitions and identify risks.
  • Benchmark and prequalify engineering consultants and contractors.
  • Incorporate lessons learned from operating assets to improve specifications and designs.
  • Collaborate with global Electrical Engineering Community of Practice within RWE Renewables.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in electrical design and construction of onshore wind farms (MV/HV systems).
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards and NEM grid connection processes.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis tools (e.g., PowerFactory).
  • Experience with tenders, QA/QC, and technical contract management.
  • Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to work in international and virtual teams; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
