About the Role:

The Sr Data Engineer leads designs, builds, and owns end-to-end data pipelines that power analytics, reporting, and data products across the lakehouse. This role serves as a technical leader within the team, setting direction for ingesting data from source systems, transforming and validating data across bronze, silver, and gold layers, and ensuring high-quality, trusted datasets for downstream consumption. Sr Engineers raise the technical bar through mentorship and standards, driving solutions with minimal oversight.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable batch and near–real-time data pipelines across the lakehouse
• Own data ingestion patterns from source systems into bronze layers
• Develop and maintain transformation logic across silver and gold layers using SQL and Python
• Implement data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks to ensure trusted datasets
• Build and optimize data models that support analytics, reporting, and downstream data products
• Partner with analytics, and business teams to understand requirements and implement robust data solutions
• Perform root-cause analysis and resolution of data quality issues and pipeline failures
• Contribute to documentation, operational runbooks, and engineering best practices
• Support production monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement of data pipelines
• Guide and mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and pairin
• Provide technical direction and feedback to improve code quality and pipeline reliability
• Lead solution design for complex or cross-domain data initiatives
• Set examples for best practices in data modeling, testing, validation, and operations
• Support onboarding and ramp-up of new engineers

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• 5-7 years of related data engineering experience
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated experience leading technical solutions end-to-end
• Proven ability to mentor and influence other engineers without formal authority
• Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team environment
• Senior Engineers lead technical direction, mentor others, and solve the most complex problems

Must Have Skills:

• Advanced SQL development and performance tuning
• Experience leading design discussions and technical reviews
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts and trade-offs
• Experience improving engineering standards, patterns, or frameworks
• Relational database and data warehousing concepts
• ETL/ELT pipeline fundamentals
• Familiarity with medallion (bronze/silver/gold) data architecture patterns
• Experience building and supporting data pipelines in a lakehouse or cloud data platform
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Version control using GitHub or GitLab
• Databricks, Azure Data Factory or Snowflake
• Proficiency with Python (or similar language) for data processing and automation

Nice to Have:

• Power BI or similar reporting tools
• Basic data governance and quality concepts.
