Sr. Engineer, Data – Data Management (L08)

About the Role:

Sr. Engineer, Data is responsible for driving Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Protection capabilities at scale across the enterprise. This role designs and delivers integrated data management solutions that ensure trusted, protected, and well-governed data by enabling near–real-time integration between data quality and data governance platforms. The engineer provides technical and thought leadership across cross-functional teams, influencing architecture and design decisions to ensure consistent, automated, and non-fragmented data management solutions. This role includes building API-based integrations between Ataccama and Collibra, extending and configuring tooling through code, and partnering closely with product owners, architects, application teams, and cybersecurity stakeholders. Success is measured by scalable data quality outcomes, effective governance automation, and adoption of standardized, self-service data management practices.


What You’ll Do:

  • Provide technical and thought leadership within Data Management, including data governance, data quality, and data protection
  • Design and implement integrations between data quality and data governance platforms, including building write APIs from Ataccama workflows into Collibra
  • Configure, extend, and augment data management tools through code, including Java-based enhancements
  • Partner with product owners, architects, development, test, and application support teams to ensure cohesive, well-integrated data protection and automation solutions
  • Consult on complex technical issues, perform deep root-cause analysis, and guide solution design and remediation
  • Standardize and evolve data governance and data protection processes to enable reliable, automated operations
  • Influence architecture and design decisions to reduce fragmentation and enable scalable, self-service data management capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with cybersecurity, governance, and platform stakeholders to ensure alignment with protection, privacy, and compliance requirements


What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5–7 years of experience in data management, data governance, data quality, or data engineering roles
  • Experience in data management analysis, design, and development
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions and guide cross-functional teams through complex problem solving


Must Have Skills:

  • Core Data Management & Engineering
  • Experience designing and implementing data governance, data quality, and data protection solutions
  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Java for tool configuration, augmentation, or integration
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs and microservices
  • Experience producing functional specifications and performing systems analysis


Platforms & Integration:

  • Experience integrating enterprise data management tools, preferably Ataccama
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, or other major RDBMS platforms
  • Experience enabling near–real-time data integration and automation across platforms


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Collibra for data governance, cataloging, and workflow enablement
  • Experience with database-native encryption solutions, including EKMeS for Snowflake or Oracle
  • Experience working in DevOps or automation-oriented data environments
  • Exposure to enterprise cybersecurity, privacy, or data protection programs
