What Your Background Should Look Like
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of technical sales experience working with OEMs and distribution channel partners
- Support travel 25% (with periods of more intensive travel depending on business needs)
- Fluent in English, with strong verbal, written, and listening skills
- Interpersonal skills to build strong, credible relationships with customers
- Self‑motivated with a focus on serving and helping customers
- Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and project‑management skills
- Strategic thinker with strong problem‑solving skills, understanding priority keys to success
- Creativity to see alternatives and ability to show TE’s value proposition
What You Will Be Doing
The Technical Sales Engineer will work directly with customers’ engineers and buyers to solve design challenges with TE Connectivity solutions. The candidate will be the application expert, communicating TE’s value proposition and executing strategies to grow applications within a defined territory. The role requires extensive interaction with customers, partners, channel representatives, and internal stakeholders (sales, product management, engineering, customer care) to develop opportunities for significant growth.
Technical Sales Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Develop a sales and marketing plan for the industry and key customers.
- Promote the full TE portfolio—including connectors, relays, contactors, EMI filters, custom harnesses, electrical cabinets, and wire/cabling solutions for industrial electrification and automation.
- Drive brand awareness of TE Connectivity solutions and capabilities to customers.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with customers to drive/reinforce revenue and ensure exceptional customer experience.
- Learn customer applications and future product development roadmaps to capture their voice for next‑generation solutions.
- Understand the customer ecosystem and subsystems to strengthen TE’s market‑share leadership.
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries.
