Main Purpose:

The Sr. Geologist – Development will carry out reservoir characterization and geomodelling activities in support of field development and evaluation of new venture opportunities.

Job Accountabilities:

• Support and assist the Reservoir Characterization Head by providing high-quality technical support, advice, and quality control on all geological modelling and reservoir characterization aspects.

• Integrate sedimentological, stratigraphic, and facies analyses with structural interpretation to provide detailed descriptions of reservoir architecture and heterogeneity.

• Plan, build, and maintain detailed, geologically rigorous geocellular reservoir models of producing fields in a timely manner by integrating all available geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and engineering data, supplemented with appropriate analogues.

• Propose, initiate, coordinate, and execute advanced geological/geophysical reservoir studies, conducted either in-house or externally, to reduce uncertainty and improve existing models of the company’s producing assets.

• Iterate geocellular models with other asset team members to ensure all subsurface understanding is adequately represented.

• Provide final static models to simulation engineers and work closely with them to ensure successful history-matched dynamic simulations are achieved.

• Be responsible for quality control and data management related to field geological and seismic data. Collaborate with other geoscientists within the company to ensure quality control and data management of additional geological datasets.

• Present and engage on new geological studies and their outcomes with management, peers, and partners to share findings, seek feedback, and define improvement or way-forward plans.

• Lead the evaluation of new reservoir characterization and/or modelling software applications and provide recommendations and justifications for acquisition to address capability gaps.

• Actively participate in developing and implementing best practices and standards in subsurface geology knowledge and activities.

• Review geocellular models prepared by partners and third parties and provide technical guidance.

• Provide integrated geological evaluations of new venture opportunities in support of global business development efforts.

• Participate in peer reviews, technical assurance processes, and risk assessments.

Qualification & Skills:

• M.Sc. in Geology.

• Minimum 6–8 years of experience working in an integrated subsurface development team for an operator.

• High proficiency in Petrel software; familiarity with Skua and Landmark is an added advantage.

• Sound knowledge of reservoir engineering principles and experience in cross-functional collaboration between G&G and Reservoir Engineering disciplines.

• Significant experience with conventional clastic reservoirs, including fluvial, shallow marine, and deep marine environments.

• Demonstrated strong skills in integrated stratigraphic interpretation across diverse datasets (integration of logs, seismic, core, biostratigraphy, etc.).

• Ability to import, manipulate, and interpret a wide variety of geological, seismic, and borehole data.

• Experience working in structurally and stratigraphically complex basins with limited well control.

• Proven judgement in identifying and applying appropriate analogues to supplement sparse datasets.

• Ability to deliver results under demanding timelines.

• Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex geological concepts in clear and understandable terms to non-subsurface stakeholders.

• Ability to mentor and coach less-experienced G&G and other technical professionals.

• Adherence to health, safety, and environmental best practices.

• Strong initiative and willingness to learn and grow within the role.
