Main Purpose:


The Sr. Lead Engineer Mechanical Projects shall be responsible for all mechanical equipment and packages on the project, including overall project management, budget control, engineering execution, and interface management. The role also includes providing support during construction, facilitating commissioning activities, troubleshooting during start-up, and ensuring stable, steady-state operational support.


Job Accountabilities:


• In-house conceptual and basic engineering of mechanical packages and equipment.

• Preparation of budgetary cost estimates.

• Review of engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and standards for the design of mechanical equipment and packages.

• Technical bid evaluation and recommendation for placement of orders, including life-cycle cost analysis.

• Engineering interface management and inter-disciplinary coordination for various packages and equipment.

• Vendor management, including manufacturing follow-up, expediting, inspection, final testing, dispatch, and site supervision services.

• Support the construction team during installation and pre-commissioning. Address field engineering issues and audit observations.

• Support O&M during commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and steady-state operations.

• Carry out root cause analysis for failures and recommend corrective actions.


Skills Required:

• Well conversant with applicable national (IS) and international standards (IS, API, ASTM, ASME, etc.) for the selection, specification, design, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning of mechanical packages and equipment.

• Conversant with sizing and selection of equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, etc.) for given process conditions.

• Conversant with applicable codes and standards for pressure vessels, columns, column internals, pumps, compressors, process packages, etc.

• Conversant with the review of engineering documents such as datasheets, GA drawings, and sizing calculations.

• Working knowledge of cross-disciplinary interfaces (Process, Piping, Instrumentation, Mechanical) and safety studies such as HAZOP and HAZID.

• Strong vendor management, communication, and problem-solving skills.


Qualification and Experience:

• Graduate Engineer (BE/BTech) from a recognized university with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industry.
