We are seeking an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in Design for Excellence (DFX) principles and Plastic Manufacturing processes to drive manufacturability, cost optimization, and quality improvements across product development and production. This role will collaborate closely with design, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure robust, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.

DFX Implementation:

  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Cost (DFC), and Design for Sustainability principles during product development.

  • Plastic Manufacturing Expertise:

  • Provide technical guidance on plastic part design, material selection, and tooling considerations.

  • Optimize injection molding, blow molding, and thermoforming processes for high-volume production.

  • Collaborate with suppliers on mold design, flow analysis, and cycle time reduction.

  • Design Engineering Skills:

  • Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability and assembly feasibility.

  • Review and improve CAD models for tolerance, fit, and functional performance.

  • Support design validation and prototyping activities.

  • Process Development:

  • Define and optimize advanced manufacturing processes for new product introductions (NPI).

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work with design engineering teams to influence product architecture for ease of manufacturing and assembly.

  • Cost & Quality Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvement through design and process changes.

  • Supplier Engagement:

  • Partner with suppliers to validate manufacturability and ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Technology Integration:

  • Evaluate and implement advanced manufacturing technologies (automation, additive manufacturing, digital twins).

  • Risk Assessment:

  • Conduct PFMEA and ensure robust process controls for high-volume production.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to enhance efficiency

  • Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering and DFX methodologies.

  • Strong knowledge of plastic manufacturing processes and tooling design.

  • Proficiency in Design Engineering tools (CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis).

  • Hands-on experience with CAD tools and PLM systems.

  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and digital manufacturing.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Certifications in Six Sigma, DFSS, or Lean Manufacturing.

  • Experience in high-volume plastic component production.

  • Knowledge of sustainability and lifecycle cost analysis.

  • Excellent communication skills and Positive ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Quality mindset in design and documentation.

  • How we work together
    We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
    Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
    Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
