Staff Software Engineer

Suger helps B2B companies sell through cloud marketplaces (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle, Alibaba, Snowflake), the fastest-growing sales channel in enterprise software. This role is based in Vancouver, Canada. We use a hybrid work model of 4 days in the Downtown office per week.

In this role, you'll:

• Lead architecture and technical direction for core platform infrastructure and customer‑facing product UI, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long‑term maintainability
• Own and deliver complex, cross‑functional initiatives end‑to‑end, from problem definition and system design through implementation, deployment, and iteration
• Act as a technical multiplier, setting engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and raising the overall quality, velocity, and technical judgment of the team
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Customer‑facing teams to translate business and customer needs into robust technical solutions, including direct customer collaboration when needed
• Drive platform excellence, improving system performance, reliability, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure as the company scales

We're seeking someone with experience including:

• 6+ years of hands‑on experience with production programming in at least one of the following languages: Python, Go, TypeScript, Java, or C++
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, REST APIs & SQL
• Proven architectural leadership, including designing scalable systems, making sound technical tradeoffs, and balancing near‑term delivery with long‑term platform health
• Experience with Terraform, GitHub CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes is a great bonus, but not required
• Experience working on cloud platforms stack (AWS, Azure or GCP) is a plus
• Ownership mindset and communication strength, comfortable operating in ambiguity, collaborating cross‑functionally, and clearly explaining complex technical decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
