About the Role
Green Light is seeking an experienced Storage Engineer to provide BAU and on-call support during the end-of-year shutdown period.
 
This role will support a large enterprise environment built on Dell Isilon and Dell VxRail, with VMware vSphere 7 and 8. The primary focus will be ensuring platform stability, availability, and rapid response to any operational issues during the shutdown window.
 
The environment consists of large-scale storage and virtualisation infrastructure, requiring strong hands-on experience with Dell storage platforms and VMware operations.
 
Responsibilities

• Provide BAU and on-call operational support for storage and virtualisation platforms during the shutdown period.
• Monitor and support Dell Isilon storage arrays, ensuring availability and performance of large-scale datasets.
• Support Dell VxRail clusters, including health checks and issue resolution via VxRail Manager.
• Troubleshoot and resolve VMware-related issues across vSphere 7 and 8 environments.
• Respond to incidents involving storage availability, performance degradation, or virtual infrastructure faults.
• Work with traditional VMware virtual switching (non-NSX) environments.
• Escalate and coordinate with vendors as required to resolve critical incidents.
• Maintain clear communication with stakeholders during on-call support periods.

 
Environment Overview

• VMware:
  • vSphere / ESXi versions 7 and 8
  • Traditional virtual switches (non-NSX)
  • Infrastructure primarily on VxRail clusters, plus 6 Dell Ready Nodes
• Dell Isilon:
  • 2 x Dell Isilon clusters
  • Over 3PB of data
  • OneFS version 9.10.1.3
• Dell VxRail:
  • VxRail Manager Version 8
  • 22-node cluster

 
Requirements

• Proven experience as a Storage Engineer in large enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Dell Isilon (OneFS) administration and support.
• Experience supporting Dell VxRail infrastructure and VxRail Manager.
• Solid understanding of VMware vSphere / ESXi 7 & 8 environments.
• Experience working with traditional VMware virtual networking (standard/distributed switches).
• Ability to work on-call and respond to operational issues during shutdown periods.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident response, and communication skills.
