Job Description: Senior Structural Design Engineer
Location: Chennai
Job Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: 2 - 5 years
Reports To: Chief Structural Engineer
Job Summary:
Will be responsible for designing and analyzing various civil and structural systems, contributing to the development of innovative, safe, and cost-effective solutions for our clients. You will work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure structural designs meet project requirements and adhere to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Analysis:
Perform structural design and analysis of buildings, bridges, foundations, and other civil structures using software such as ETABS, STAAD. Pro, Auto CAD, Revit, etc.
Design steel and concrete structures while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, ACI, BS, IS Codes).
Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications for construction.
Project Collaboration:
Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineers to integrate structural requirements into overall design plans.
Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and innovative solutions to meet client requirements.
Work with contractors during construction to resolve any design-related issues or deviations.
Site Visits and Inspections:
Conduct site inspections to assess conditions, verify designs, and provide feedback during the construction phase.
Ensure that construction aligns with design intent and meets safety standards and regulations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Produce technical reports, design documentation, and drawings for submission to clients and regulatory authorities.
Ensure all design outputs are clear, concise, and compliant with statutory requirements.
Sustainability and Innovation:
Incorporate sustainable practices into design projects by optimizing material use and minimizing environmental impact.
Stay current with industry developments, new technologies, and materials to enhance design solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
Proficiency in industry-standard design and analysis software (e.g., STAAD. Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, Revit, Auto CAD).
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, Indian design codes, and regulations (Eurocodes, AISC, ACI, etc.).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
