Job Description:
  • The Senior CSA Designer will be responsible for the civil and structural design scope of work for assigned client projects or CSA staff groups.
  • This role involves supervising design and drafting teams, ensuring compliance with design standards, safety regulations, and applicable industry codes.
  • The candidate will oversee 3D model extractions, design reviews, and quality assurance, while also contributing to process improvement and team development initiatives.
  • Essential Job Duties:
  • Perform civil and structural design for assigned project scopes or CSA staff group.
  • Supervise and manage the work of designers and drafters, ensuring adherence to client standard design details, OSHA/client safety standards, and applicable industry codes.
  • Oversee drawings extracted from 3D models to ensure accuracy and completeness for construction, detailing, and fabrication.
  • Conduct 3D design reviews, resolve design conflicts, and address constructability issues.
  • Participate in the preparation or checking of as-built drawings.
  • Perform and/or review advanced-level structural or reinforcing steel detailing (in-house or via subcontractors).
  • Prepare design and drafting procedures and standards; identify and recommend improvements to work processes.
  • Review and incorporate lessons learned to maintain high quality and accuracy of design drawings.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, quantity take-offs, proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
  • Participate in work assignment planning, performance reviews, coaching, training, and career development of team members.
  • Receive technical guidance from senior supervisory staff such as a Senior Supervising Designer, Engineering Group Supervisor, or Chief Engineer.
  • Provide technical guidance to subordinate designers, drafters, and technicians.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Completion of recognized specialized course(s) in design or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD systems, design software, and computer applications related to project delivery.
  • Practical knowledge of:

    Structural steel connection standards
  • Reinforcing steel fabrication standards
  • Piling methods and related industry standards
  • AISC, ACI, ASCE, and AWS codes and standards (knowledge of Euro, XX, and Australian standards is an advantage)
  • Experience in 3D modeling with SP3D, FrameWorks, or similar systems, and MicroStation.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10–20 years of project experience covering the responsibilities outlined above.
