Job Summary

:

Originate and check structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, material requisitions. Reviews and coordinates technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction. Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues. Participate in technical meetings and perform intra-discipline coordination.



This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes

  • Compiles, adjusts, and correlates data that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard Civil/Structural engineering techniques, procedures and criteria utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​ and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)​ 

  • Prepares or participates in preparation of construction drawings, project schedules, graphic presentations, civil drawings, steel and concrete calculations, and material requisitions 

  • Checks manufacturers’ drawings and data for compliance with specification and design drawings 

  • Designs or participates in design for minor structures and portions of buildings 

  • Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records​ 

  • Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines​ 

  • Coordinates development and presentation of material when requested 

  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals 

  • Assists in constructability reviews 

  • Education and Experience Requirements:

  • University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

  • Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now and in the future.

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)

  • Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns-including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries - are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
