Job Title: Student Counsellor
Job Summary:
The Student Counsellor will be responsible for guiding prospective students and their parents regarding the University’s academic programs, admission processes, and campus life. The role involves counselling, coordination, administrative support, and effective communication to ensure a positive experience for new entrants. The position requires a proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills, administrative experience, and a student-centric approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Counsel prospective students and parents regarding University programs, admission procedures, eligibility criteria, and career pathways.Educate new entrants and parents about the University, its academic offerings, facilities, and policies.Handle individual counselling sessions, both in person and through digital platforms.Coordinate with academic departments and administrative units for smooth admission and onboarding processes.Manage correspondence independently through emails, letters, and other official communication channels.Maintain accurate records and reports using ERP systems and office productivity tools.Assist in admission-related activities, orientation programs, and student outreach initiatives.Ensure timely follow-up with applicants and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.Support management with administrative and coordination tasks as required.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from any statutory University or qualifications as prescribed by the Board of Management.Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree (mandatory).Higher qualifications in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields will be an added advantage.Professional Certifications:
Training or certification in Counselling is desirable.Professional Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years of administrative experience in a similar capacity.Prior experience in student counselling, academic coordination, or educational administration is desirable.Skills and Competencies:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency in computers, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and ERP packages.Excellent interpersonal and counselling skills.Professional appearance, positive attitude, and a student-friendly personality.Ability to work independently and manage correspondence effectively.Strong organizational and coordination skills.Commitment to student support, guidance, and institutional values.
