Role Overview
We are seeking an Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) to collaborate with our Learning Design team in developing 1- to 3-hour courses focused on the Payroll Cycle and regulatory compliance. The role involves translating complex payroll regulations into structured educational content.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Curriculum Collaboration:
Partner with Lead IDs to create content outlines for courses on the payroll processing journey, from gross pay calculation to tax filing (Form 941) .
Select and curate appropriate sources/content for each course skill/lesson/learning objectives as needed.
Validate the time-on-task (ToT) for each instructional component.
Instructional Material:
Write instructional content as needed: case studies, concept guides, interactive scripts
Write anecdotes to form real-world connections with the concepts being taught
Support the creation of slide decks and demonstration videos for payroll software, such as Kronos .
Assessment Design:
Review formative assessment items for accuracy, currency, alignment with learning objectives, and consistency with course instructional content
Develop practical scenarios for payroll auditing and ACA compliance .
Develop hands-on learning/practice activities, as well as lab activities (if required), along with the required data set and documentation, using the appropriate templates.
Quality Assurance:
Review demo video scripts and storyboards to ensure payroll cycle and regulations are accurately represented.
Feedback Integration:
Support the implementation of client and stakeholder feedback to ensure the accuracy of content.
Qualifications
Experience: Professional background in Accounting, specifically in Payroll Management and US Compliance (FLSA, ACA) .
Skills: Attention to detail to produce error-free technical content regarding tax and deductions.
Previous experience in training or educational roles is a plus.
Experience writing instructional materials and online course development.
