Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated SUE Technician to join our team. The primary role involves identifying, mapping, and documenting underground utilities using a combination of records research, geophysical tools, excavation methods, and advanced survey techniques. The main objective is to assist the SUE Analyst in the operation of a SUE field crew.
Responsibilities
+ Identify, map, and document underground utilities using geophysical tools and advanced survey techniques.
+ Assist the SUE Analyst in operating a SUE field crew.
+ Operate SUE field equipment safely, including ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic designating equipment, sewer camera, probe rod, jackhammer, chop saw, pneumatic tampers, and vacuum excavation equipment.
+ Exercise extreme caution near utility facilities and adhere to all job site safety parameters.
+ Assist with the maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and work sites.
+ Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
+ Participate in some overnight travel as required.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency with survey equipment such as total stations and GPS.
+ Experience with SUE locating equipment or hydrographic equipment.
+ Ability to lift 50 pounds, carry, and operate equipment as needed.
+ Capability to work outdoors for extended periods in various terrains and conditions.
+ Strong technical skills, process-oriented, and detail-oriented.
+ Ability to work unsupervised when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School/GED or equivalent preferred.
+ Specialized training from a vo-tech school or minimum 2 years’ experience as a SUE Technician 1.
+ Current Commercial Driver’s License is a plus.
+ Experience is welcomed; willingness to train.
+ Employment contingent upon passing check for Nuclear Facilities.
+ motor vehicle checks, and pre-employment drug screening are conditions of employment.
Work Environment
The role requires significant outdoor work, walking through various terrains, and exposure to extreme weather conditions. The position involves 100% fieldwork, traveling to locations across the Carolinas, VA, GA, and more. Work may require 50+ hours during busy periods, and occasional overnight travel is expected. The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
