Job Description

Work Location : Bangalore
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 12+ years of experience – STA, Supplier Quality, Supplier Development roles.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Supplier Enablement, Manufacturing Feasibility & Technical Guidance
- Lead manufacturing feasibility studies, DFM/DFA reviews, and process risk assessments with suppliers to ensure designs are manufacturable, scalable, and capable before tooling, PPAP, and production release.
- Provide end-to-end technical guidance to mechanical suppliers on process selection, tooling concepts, fixtures, jigs, inspection methods, and in-process quality controls.
- Work closely with suppliers to improve manufacturability, process capability (Cp/Cpk), yield, and repeatability, particularly where supplier maturity is limited.
- Enable suppliers to transition to EV-grade and automotive-grade manufacturing discipline.
SOR Ownership & Translation of Design Intent
- Own Statement of Requirements (SOR) for mechanical components across SMPL products including battery packs, swap stations, docks, and charging infrastructure.
- Translate design intent into clear, manufacturable, inspectable, and measurable requirements for suppliers.
- Ensure SORs comprehensively define materials, processes, tolerances, inspection methods, process capability expectations, tooling assumptions, and change management requirements.
Quality Compliance & Outcome-Based Governance
- Ensure supplier compliance with IATF 16949, SMPL quality manuals, and applicable regulatory and customer requirements.
- Drive practical deployment of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and structured change management at supplier locations.
- Lead resolution of chronic and systemic quality issues using disciplined problem-solving and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Focus on quality outcomes—process stability, first-pass yield, defect prevention, and field performance—rather than checklist compliance.
Cross-Functional Execution & Early Risk Gatekeeping
- Work closely with Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Program teams during concept, NPI, pilot builds, localization, and production ramp-up.
- Act as a technical bridge between design intent and supplier execution, ensuring manufacturing and quality risks are identified and mitigated early.
- Participate in design and sourcing gate reviews to flag manufacturability, scalability, and supplier capability risks before design freeze and supplier nomination.
- Support supplier development actions that directly impact delivery stability, ramp-up readiness, and production continuity.
Required Skills & Experience
- 12+ years of experience in STA, Supplier Quality, Supplier Development roles within automotive, EV, or complex manufacturing environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise in mechanical manufacturing processes and supplier capability development.
- Proven experience in manufacturing feasibility assessment, DFM/DFA, SOR ownership, and supplier technical enablement.
- Deep working knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive quality systems.
- Six Sigma Black Belt preferred (Green Belt minimum desirable).
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, scale-up environment with high ownership and execution focus.
- Strong supplier-facing communication, technical mentoring, and decision-making capability.
