Surgery Medical Coder

About the Role:

We are hiring a Certified Surgery Medical Coder with strong experience in US Healthcare surgical coding. The ideal candidate must be CPC or CCS certified and possess hands-on exposure to coding complex surgical procedures with high accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Review operative reports, discharge summaries, and physician documentation to assign accurate CPT, ICD‑10‑CM, and HCPCS codes for surgical services.
• Ensure correct application of modifiers, bundling/unbundling rules, and adherence to CCI edits.
• Comply with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines.
• Analyze documentation for completeness and raise queries for missing or unclear information.
• Maintain coding accuracy, productivity standards, and turnaround time (TAT) metrics.
• Participate in internal quality audits and compliance reviews.
• Stay up to date with annual coding guidelines and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in Surgery Medical Coding (US Healthcare).

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD‑10‑CM, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Hands-on experience in IP/OP surgical coding.
• Sound understanding of LCD/NCD guidelines and payer policies.
• Experience using EMR/EHR systems and encoder tools.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Certification (Mandatory) CPC OR CCS Certification (AAPC / AHIMA)
