Primary Job Title: Gastrointestinal Surgeon

About The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Gastroenterologist to join an on-site tertiary surgical team. The role combines advanced therapeutic endoscopy with elective and emergency GI surgery, working within a multidisciplinary environment to deliver evidence-based perioperative care and complex resections.

Role & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopy including EMR, ESD and ERCP with appropriate peri-procedural planning and documentation.
• Plan and execute complex GI surgical procedures—minimally invasive and open oncologic resections—with focus on patient safety and oncologic principles.
• Lead perioperative care for high-risk GI patients, coordinate with anaesthesia, ICU and allied specialties for optimisation and postoperative management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, develop individualized treatment plans and collaborate with medical oncology, radiology and pathology teams.
• Maintain comprehensive clinical records, ensure adherence to institutional protocols, and report outcomes for quality improvement and audit.
• Mentor junior surgeons and endoscopists, contribute to training programs and support service development for advanced endoscopy and HPB surgery.

Qualifications & Professional Requirements

• Postgraduate surgical qualification (MS/MD) with superspecialty in GI surgery / Surgical Gastroenterology / MCh in Hepatobiliary/Oncosurgery or equivalent.
• Valid registration with the Medical Council of India / State Medical Council and adherence to local regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience managing complex GI operative cases and advanced therapeutic endoscopy in a tertiary-care setting.
