Arcadis Technical Safety Risk Management (TSRM) Team
System Safety & RAM Consultant
Role accountabilities:
As a System Safety & RAM Consultant you will support a variety of mission-critical projects carrying out safety and reliability analyses and safety risk assessment activities across a range of industry sectors. Typical tasks/activities would include:
- Operating as the safety and/or reliability assurance technical lead on a variety of mission-critical projects
- Planning, organising and scribing Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) workshops
- Review and quality-assure SRM project outputs (e.g. documentation, reports, specifications) to ensure that they meet or exceed client expectations and Arcadis requirements and comply with national standards and codes of practice
- Developing project hazard records / logs
- Undertaking Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Fault Tree Analysis / Event Tree Analysis
- Developing Engineering Safety arguments and justifications in support of design changes
- Undertaking Reliability Assessments (typically using Reliability Block Diagrams)
- Preparing/contributing to Safety Assurance documentation: Safety Plans, Safety Cases, Hazard Reports, System Definitions,
- Preparing/contributing to Reliability Assurance documentation: Reliability Availability and Maintainability (RAM) Plans, RAM Analyses and other reliability assurance documentation
- Performing Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), consequence analysis and/or dispersion modelling
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in System Safety and Reliability / Risk within a mission-critical industry (experience from the Rail industry would be preferred, although any relevant experience from mission-critical industries is beneficial)
- Knowledge of Engineering Safety Management and experience of applying the Common Safety Method (CSM), Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS) and BS EN50126, 50128 and 50129 for RAMS
- Working knowledge and able to develop safety risk and reliability models using Reliability Block Diagrams, Fault Trees and Event Trees
- Working knowledge of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) using a variety of techniques
- Experience of supporting HAZIDs/ HAZOPs workshops and contributing to Safety Cases
- Must be proactive, solution orientated and be able to utilise experience, knowledge and skills to carry out bespoke risk assessments
- Must have excellent command of writing and presenting in English.
- Must have the ability to work across different time zones and as part of a diverse team internationally.
- Desired: Engineering graduate (all engineering fields considered)
- Desired: Ability to read electrical schematic block diagrams and engineering drawings
- Desired: Use of the Isograph Reliability Workbench or similar software applications
- Desired: Experience of working across more than one mission-critical industry, e.g. Rail, Energy, Process Industry (incl. Oil & Gas), Aerospace & Defence.
- Desired: Experience delivering consequence analysis and/or dispersion modelling
