Job Description

Oracle India Tax is seeking to hire a Tax Director in India to provide leadership and oversight for the India Direct Tax Audit Line of Business, commensurate with the increasing scale, complexity, and risk profile of corporate tax, transfer pricing, and international tax matters across Oracle India entities and relevant foreign affiliates. This role will own end-to-end strategy and execution for direct tax and transfer pricing audits, including review and sign-off of responses to tax notices and senior-level representation before Indian tax authorities. The Tax Director will manage and coordinate internal and external resources to implement company tax savings strategies. Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns. Manages a professional staff.

The position will lead the full dispute and appellate lifecycle, spanning proceedings before the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), the Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP), the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, and continued litigation support through the High Court and Supreme Court, as required. In addition, the Tax Director will be responsible for developing overall case strategy, managing external counsel, and overseeing the preparation and review of briefs for appellate and court matters. The role will also ensure strong internal governance, including preparation for Key Process Controls (KPC) meetings and ongoing alignment with headquarters and cross-functional stakeholders.


The ideal candidate will have significant Tax and financial knowledge and multiple years of experience at a large professional services or multinational corporation in the area of Direct taxation, with focus on International Taxation. In-depth experience in handling Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, and International Tax matters. Prior Tax audit, controversies and/or transfer pricing experience would be beneficial. Strong technical knowledge of Tax laws and application globally. Proven abilities to manage and build a team. Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment with constant attention to detail. A strong lead and a team player with the ability to collaborate effectively in a geographically disperse working environment. Qualified Chartered Accountant preferred. Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills are required with MS Office proficiency, especially Excel.

  • Serve as a strategic partner to Oracle’s business leaders, enhancing shareholder value through sound tax planning, proactive risk management, and informed decision support across global operations.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes to compile, analyze, and report data for domestic and international tax compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Represent Oracle on tax matters before government authorities, regulatory bodies, and professional and industry forums, acting as a credible and trusted advocate for the company.
  • Direct and oversee tax research activities, including the analysis and interpretation of complex domestic and international tax statutes, regulations, and guidance.
  • Manage India tax inquiries, audits, and litigation, serving as the primary liaison with Indian tax authorities; oversee and brief external counsel, and coordinate closely with internal stakeholders across Finance, Legal, HR, M&A, and other lines of business.
  • Analyze, distill, and clearly communicate complex financial and legal data to support tax audits, controversy matters, and litigation, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and defensibility.
  • Draft and review responses to tax authorities, formal submissions, legal briefs, and position papers, supported by thorough technical and case law research.
  • Provide strategic tax guidance on cross-border transactions, restructurings, and major business initiatives, ensuring tax considerations are embedded early in commercial decision-making.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance global tax governance, internal controls, and documentation frameworks to ensure compliance, transparency, and alignment with Oracle’s enterprise risk-management standards.
  • Partner with global teams across all lines of business to drive continuous improvement of tax processes arising from substantive tax matters, audits, and regulatory developments.
  • Mentor and develop tax individual contributors, managers and contractors, fostering technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
