Tech Lead Backend (MERN) - REMOTE

About Our Client:

This North American IT consulting company is looking for a full time permanent Tech Lead – Backend (MERN) for a REMOTE position.

Responsibilities:

● Own backend architecture, API design, and system scalability
● Design and build high-performance backend services using Node.js and JavaScript
● Lead backend design discussions and code reviews
● Ensure backend systems are secure, reliable, and production-ready
● Guide and mentor backend engineers on best practices
● Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams

Requirements:

● Strong expertise in Node.js and JavaScript fundamentals
● Experience designing RESTful APIs and backend services at scale
● Deep understanding of asynchronous programming and backend architecture
● Strong hands-on experience with databases ( NoSQL)
● Proven skills in:
○ Data modeling
○ Indexing and query optimization
○ Pagination and performance tuning
● Experience implementing caching strategies (e.g., Redis, in-memory, HTTP caching)
● Understanding of scalability and performance trade-offs
● Solid understanding of backend security practices
● Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and secure APIs
● Awareness of common vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques
