Job Description
We are seeking a Technical Director for our Strategic Transport Modelling Service Line within Communities and Mobility. An excellent skill level and experience of using strategic/microsimulation software (SATURN/VISUM/VISSIM/CUBE/EMME) and its associated modules is essential, with skills in other modelling packages being advantageous.
Job Profile :
- Oversee the delivery of strategic transport modelling projects in the UK and Ireland
- Join the senior team to work with the Service Line Director and Technical Directors to deliver the business plan for 140 colleagues
- Work with the Strategic Modelling Discipline Team Leader to allow the team leader to resource and develop and grow the team
- Provide support to the wider WSP including the Transport Planning team, Environment teams and Infrastructure teams
- Actively encouraging technical and professional development within the Strategic Modelling team
- Support work winning activities for key national, regional and local authority clients
- promote best proactive and raise WSP's profile in the market
Responsibilities:
- Providing technical leadership on UK projects, including model and appraisal specification and Assurance and QA
- Act as modelling and appraisal lead for projects and act as Project Director / Project Manager where required
- Working with joint UK and India teams to oversee the delivery of projects
- Resourcing projects with team members from UK and Inia
- Managing client interface with work winning targets for key UK clients
- Line management of team members in India in Bengaluru and Noida
- Mentoring and training of team members
- Developing papers for conferences and awards
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of delivering Strategic Modelling projects using proprietary software (e.g. VISUM, SATURN, Cube, VISSIM)
- Proven track record of UK Appraisal and Business Case development using standard tools (e.g. TUBA, WITA)
- Proven ability to act as Project Director and Project Manager on a wide range of transport model build, model application and scheme appraisal
- Demonstrable experience of working with and advising UK clients
- Knowledge of current national and regional guidance/standards with regards to the fields of Strategic Modelling and Appraisal
- Awareness of up-to-date initiatives/best practice in scripting and coding
- Educated to Bachelor / Master’s degree level in a Transportation/Traffic related discipline
- Corporate membership of a relevant professional body
- Chartered Engineer status of an appropriate engineering body
