ABOUT EAST-WEST SEED KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER FOUNDATION
East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation (EWS-KT) trains smallholder farmers in
sustainable and profitable vegetable farming techniques and improves their business skills. In
this way, we aim to increase the supply of safe-to-eat vegetables, while simultaneously catalyzing
the development of innovative agricultural input markets. By leveraging a market-driven
approach, we help to position vegetable production as an attractive and viable business
opportunity for local communities.
EWS-KT actively supports smallholder farmers in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ghana, India, Myanmar,
Nigeria, the Philippines, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Since 2015, we have trained more

ABOUT THE ROLE
This position supports East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation's goal of sharing
knowledge on improved fresh vegetable production practices with smallholder farmers. The
Technical Field Supervisor will manage and oversee the extension activities carried out by
Technical Field Advisors in EWS-KT's working areas in Chhattisgarh. This position will strengthen
extension activities by establishing model field demonstrations and training the Technical Field
Advisors on technical aspects of vegetable production in Chhattisgarh.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor the field activities of Technical Field Advisors on a regular basis and provide
Technical Field Advisors with guidance and support
Train Technical Field Advisors on technical aspects of vegetable production and orient
new Technical Field Advisors
Manage/oversee field demonstration plots in the selected villages and plan for seedling
and crop production
Ensure that all field demonstrations are of best quality and follow the protocols
recommended by the EWS-KT Technical Support Hub
Organize Field Days and trainings sessions to transfer knowledge on profitable vegetable
production to smallholder farmers and increase EWS-KT's reach
Identify the seeds and other input materials required for each season and ensure timely
availability of these inputs for starting and maintaining the demonstration plots
Ensure the availability of crop guides, crop boards, technical boards, Field Day kiosks,
brochures, and other promotional materials for the Chhattisgarh team
Create a strong support system for the farmers by establishing a network of agro-input
dealers for the supply of recommended agricultural inputs
Create training and promotional materials in Hindi and other local languages as required;
support the translation of EWS-KT technical guides and other knowledge assets into Hindi
Select areas for program implementation and collaboration
Assess new areas for commencing EWS-KT initiatives
Select new villages, key farmers, and suitable locations for field demonstrations
Organize baseline surveys in the new villages and oversee ongoing data collection
Liaise with relevant government departments, allied organizations, and farmer producer
companies, etc., for collaboration and support
Support the MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning) Officer and Team Lead in collecting and documenting success stories
and best practices from the field
Collaborate with the EWS-KT Technical Support Hub on training protocols
QUALIFICATIONS
BSc in horticulture, agriculture, or other relevant field
Minimum 2 to 3 years of field experience in vegetable production
Knowledge on crops, seasons, land preparation, fertilizer application, and pest and
disease identification and management
Good understanding of vegetable markets
Excellent community organizing skills
Experience in training of trainers
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient user of Google Workspace
Proactive and innovative; able to multitask and work in cross-functional environments
A team player
Fluent in Hindi and English
