Overview
Jacobs is seeking a Technical Leader Bridge Engineer for transport structures with projects across New Zealand, Australia and beyond. This role is based in New Zealand (Christchurch, Auckland, Wellington) with relocation options from Australia (Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide) if applicable.
Your impact
Shape the future of infrastructure as a Technical Leader Bridge Engineer with our Transport Structures team. Bring deep expertise across diverse and challenging infrastructure projects, and apply it to reviews, innovation and leadership across the Asia Pacific & Middle East region, representing New Zealand in Jacobs’ global Transport Structures discussions. You will work on multiple sectors including roads, rail, water, power and energy, with a strong focus on seismic design.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical authority within the team: design review and professional sign-offs to ensure excellence in delivery; review and challenge designs; bring innovation; work closely with design teams, clients and contractors; sign off on producer statements.
- Provide high-level guidance on projects while building client relationships to secure new opportunities.
- Contribute to the comprehensive suite of services: conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of bridges and transport structures; design checking and review; construction supervision; inspections, assessment and monitoring; maintenance, rehabilitation, strengthening and widening works design; client advisory on scheme development, planning and procurement.
- Collaborate with other technical directors and leaders across the Asia Pacific & Middle East region and represent New Zealand in the global Jacobs forum for Transport Structures.
Qualifications
- Relevant engineering qualification + Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
- Proven experience in seismic design to the NZ Bridge Manual
- Auckland Council registration for design sign-off preferred
- Deep technical knowledge across bridge engineering and horizontal infrastructure
- A reputation for excellence recognized by clients and colleagues
- Ability to work across diverse infrastructure projects
- Excellent communication and ability to build enduring client relationships while mentoring team members
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with constructors to deliver innovative and cost-efficient solutions
