(A)JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Technical Manager with strong Software Architecture depth to own the technical vision, system design, and execution of complex GIS-driven platforms.

This is a hands-on architecture and leadership role—you will design scalable systems, guide multiple engineering pods, and ensure technical excellence from concept to production. You will act as the final technical authority for solution design while mentoring senior engineers and tech leads.

(B) JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITY

1. Architecture & Technical Ownership

• Own end-to-end system architecture for large-scale GIS and location intelligence platforms
• Design scalable, secure, and high-performance systems across backend, frontend, data, and geospatial layers
• Define architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices across teams
• Review and approve solution designs, data models, APIs, and infrastructure plans

2. Engineering Leadership

• Lead and mentor Tech Leads and Senior Engineers across multiple teams or pods
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, and technical audits
• Balance technical debt vs feature velocity, ensuring long-term platform health
• Support hiring, onboarding, and technical upskilling of engineers

3. Delivery & Execution

• Partner closely with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, and Clients to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
• Own technical estimation, feasibility analysis, and risk mitigation for projects
• Oversee production readiness, performance optimization, and reliability of systems
• Act as escalation point for complex production issues and architectural bottlenecks

4. Innovation & Platform Evolution

• Stay ahead of trends in GIS, backend systems, frontend frameworks, cloud, and AI
• Drive adoption of new technologies, tools, and frameworks where they add real value
• Help shape the company’s long-term platform and product architecture roadmap

(C) TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL-SET & QUALIFICATION

Must-Have Skills

• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL + PostGIS (spatial modeling, indexing, query optimization)
• Deep experience designing and building backend systems using Python, Java, or Go, including API-first architectures, data pipelines, and asynchronous distributed workflows
• Proven ability to design distributed systems, microservices, and API-first architectures
• Solid understanding of React + TypeScript and modern frontend architecture (not just implementation)
• Strong grasp of system design principles: scalability, fault tolerance, observability, and security
• Experience leading teams in enterprise or service-based environments
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Rust or other high-performance languages for compute-intensive or spatial engines
• Hands-on exposure to GIS formats and tooling: GeoJSON, WKT, raster/tiles, vector pipelines
• Familiarity with map rendering & visualization tools (Mapbox, Deck.gl, Leaflet, OpenLayers)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Exposure to data orchestration and async systems (Airflow, Redis, Celery, Kafka, etc.)
• Prior integration with location APIs (Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, HERE, Mapbox)
• Awareness of AI/ML applications in geospatial workflows (routing, prediction, analytics)
