Position Overview
We are seeking a Technical Advisor in Rome to join our expanding advisory team.
This is a client-facing consulting role, designed for a highly experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of Italian grid connection and permitting frameworks for solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The successful candidate will provide independent technical and regulatory advice throughout all project stages: development, construction, and operation; ensuring that our clients’ investments and strategies in Italy are fully compliant, technically sound, and optimised for long-term success.
This is an advisory role, focused on technical assessment, risk identification, and strategic coordination, not on direct management of the permitting or grid connection processes
Key Responsibilities
- Provide integrated technical and regulatory advisory services for solar PV and BESS projects across the Italian market, supporting clients throughout development, construction, acquisition and operational phases.
- Support technical due diligence contributing specialist input to acquisitions, financings, refinancings and portfolio transactions.
- Review and assess project documentation prepared by developers, EPC contractors and suppliers, including designs, permits, contracts, studies and technical assumptions, with a focus on bankability and risk allocation.
- Advise clients on Italian regulatory and permitting frameworks, helping them navigate interactions with national and local authorities and ensuring projects remain compliant and investable throughout their lifecycle.
- Contribute to feasibility studies and development assessments, including technical design reviews, site constraints analysis, high-level grid considerations, CAPEX/OPEX benchmarking and technology selection for PV and BESS projects.
- Identify technical, regulatory and delivery risks across development, construction and operation, and propose practical mitigation strategies to protect investor and lender interests.
- Support construction and delivery oversight activities, working alongside Quintas’ Owner’s Engineer and Quality Assurance teams to ensure projects are delivered in line with permits, contracts and industry best practice.
- Assist with performance and operational assessments for operating assets, including energy yield reviews, revamping or repowering considerations, and asset optimisation initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with developers, investors, lenders, EPC contractors and internal Quintas teams, acting as a trusted technical advisor within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Prepare clear, well-structured technical reports and presentations for clients and investors, translating complex technical issues into actionable insights.
- Actively contribute to the development of Quintas Advisory’s Italian market offering, supporting internal knowledge sharing, best-practice frameworks and the continued growth of the Advisory platform in Italy.
Must have:
- Fluency in Italian and strong proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Engineering degree (Electrical, Energy, or Industrial Engineering preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the PV energy sector.
- Excellent analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple advisory assignments simultaneously.
- Client-facing communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical and regulatory concepts clearly and confidently.
Nice to have:
- Experience with energy storage regulation, hybrid systems, and grid flexibility mechanisms.
- Background in technical due diligence for project finance or M&A transactions.
- Familiarity with European grid codes and cross-border regulatory frameworks.
- Proven experience reviewing technical studies, permits, and grid documentation for utility-scale projects.
