Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Technical Sales & Country Operations Manager to establish and grow their presence in Mexico. This individual will be the first local hire and will play a critical role in building the Mexican market through hands-on technical sales leadership while also managing light operational responsibilities for a small local office.
This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role suited for an experienced technical sales professional who is comfortable operating independently, building a territory from the ground up, and serving as the primary local representative for our client in Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Lead all sales activities for the client in Mexico
- Develop and manage relationships with: OEMs, Tier 1 / Tier 2 manufacturers and industrial plants and end users
- Provide technical guidance and application support for spray nozzles, tank mixing eductors, and air atomizers
- Support customer projects from specification through implementation
- Track market trends, competitive activity, and customer requirements
- Drive revenue growth and expansion from an established but underdeveloped territory
Country & Office Operations (Light Scope)
- Support the establishment and ongoing operation of a small Mexico office
- Act as the primary local point of contact between Mexico customers and the client's headquarters
- Oversee basic administrative and order-processing activities
- Coordinate with HQ on forecasting, pricing, inventory planning and logistics and customer support
- Assist with hiring and onboarding of limited local support staff (e.g., order desk role; potential future salesperson)
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operations without managing a large team or full P&L
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in technical or industrial sales (e.g., spray systems, pumps, valves, fluid handling, process equipment, instrumentation, automation)
- Proven ability to grow a territory or launch a new market
- Strong experience selling to industrial customers, including: automotive manufacturing, chemical processing, food & beverage, pharmaceutical / packaging and general manufacturing
- Experience working with distributors or manufacturer’s reps
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to engineers, maintenance teams, and plant managers
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Willingness to travel domestically within Mexico for customer visits
Preferred Background
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or related)
- Prior experience with or exposure to competitors such as SSCO, BETE, PNR, or similar industrial component manufacturers
- Existing network of contacts in Mexican manufacturing and industrial markets
- Familiarity with automated or high-volume manufacturing environments
