Technical Writer

Pune

Position Summary:

This position performs technical content creation for technical publications for engine and systems to ensure maintenance work. This role fulfills the technical documentation requirement with current market requirement in terms of technical manuals for troubleshooting procedures, alarm rectification, error code description writing. This role will steer the external partnering and get the work done according to RR guidelines.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analysis and Support for Guided troubleshooting procedure writing for engine and systems
  • Develop and approve the technical content of technical publications/communications including acceptance limit development for guided trouble shooting, interactive trouble shooting, Error codes.
  • Coordinate and execute technical writing creation steering with external partnering (India, Singapore, China, Japan)
  • Quality checking and coordination of projects with partnering
  • Coordinate with Cross functional teams for content development
  • Create and update style guides for multimedia content
  • Steer external partnering to get done the graphic creation work.
  • Basic Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, mechanical, Electronic, Automation, Engineering (or equivalent) with minimum 5-7 years experience in technical writing
  • Knowledge of components/ systems functionality
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical writing in content management system
  • Experience of working on complex tasks that are novel and ambiguous
  • Able to create multimedia content with different tools
  • Handle partnering with stringent timelines for deliveries
  • Tools such as SAP, Windchill, any CMS tool, Creo
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge about Diesel, Gas engines, alarms, error codes
  • Hands-on skills in technical write up creation, 3D manual creation, animation development
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to read and interpret general procedures
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience of the creation of guidelines
  • Experience in support/lead cross-functional teams e.g. specialists, suppliers, customers, partners
