Lathe Operator & Shop Technician

Role Summary

Seeking a hands-on Lathe Operator / Shop Technician to support turning operations and general shop duties. This role involves working with manual machinery, maintaining shop operations, and assisting with light mechanical and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate manual machine tools, including lathe, mill, grinders (ID/OD, surface), and cut-off saw
• Work within tight precision tolerances (up to 0.0002)
• Cut steel and prepare materials for machining
• Perform minor mechanical assembly and part balancing
• Build shipping crates and support shop logistics
• Maintain shop floor cleanliness and equipment upkeep
• Perform basic documentation and shop-related administrative tasks
• Read and interpret measurements using precision tools

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong mechanical aptitude

• Ability to read and measure using micrometers, calipers, and gauges

• Basic math skills for calculating dimensions and tolerances
• Experience in measuring, inspecting, and testing parts for quality and accuracy

Additional Skills (Preferred)

• Knowledge of lubrication and cooling processes for machining

• Ability to clean and maintain machines, tools, and equipment

• Experience collaborating with engineering and production teams
