Job Description
1. Your New Organization
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an intergovernmental organization of 125 Member Countries working to accelerate the deployment of solar energy to achieve universal energy access, energy security, and a sustainable, low-carbon future. Co-founded by India and France under the Paris Agreement, ISA serves as a platform for cooperation among solar rich nations to mobilize investments, build capacity, and promote innovation in solar energy deployment across the Global South. Its mission is to unlock solar investments by 2030, while reducing technology and financing costs. Through initiatives across agriculture, health, transport, and power generation, ISA Member Countries are driving change by shaping policies, sharing best practices, setting standards, and mobilising investments.
2. Your New Role
The Technology Specialist (NOC) will support ISA’s strategic and analytical work by advancing technology intelligence, road mapping, techno-economic analysis, integrated PV solutions, and supply chain diversification across Member Countries. The role will be central in generating evidence-based insights, planning and policy development, strengthening quality and standards, and contributing to ISA’s flagship knowledge products. The broad objective of the assignment is to provide technology intelligence, policy analysis, and implementation support aligned with ISA’s Technology Roadmap and Policy Pillar as well Member Country priorities.
3. Your Broader Scope of Work (including but not limited to)
• Support comprehensive technical assessments and foresight activities across solar PV, storage, Integrated PV applications (Agri-PV, Floating PV, BIPV, VIPV), digital grids, thermal technologies, and other emerging solutions relevant to ISA Member Countries. This includes conducting baseline assessments, gap analyses, and readiness assessments for solar and allied technologies.
• Contribute to technology road mapping and long-term strategic planning, including sectoral pathways, decarbonisation scenarios, technology readiness assessments, and modelling inputs. Support integration of circularity considerations into planning frameworks.
• Undertake techno-economic analysis, including cost–benefit assessments, system-level comparisons, and LCOE-based evaluations, to help Member Countries identify optimal technology choices and deployment strategies.
• Support the development, strengthening, and harmonisation of standards, quality frameworks, and technology governance, including technical specifications, testing protocols, certification approaches, and conformity assessment mechanisms, with consideration of circularity and end-of-life principles.
• Analyse global and regional supply chains, identifying risks, dependencies, and diversification opportunities across solar value chain- PV modules, components, storage systems, balance-of-system parts, and other associated clean energy technologies.
• Develop and contribute to knowledge products, including ISA’s flagship reports, toolkits, compendiums, case studies, and training modules that enhance technical, policy, and market capacity across Member Countries.
• Prepare policy-relevant technical inputs, including regulatory briefs, policy notes, and guidance documents to support Member Countries in integrating emerging technologies— particularly Integrated PV and thermal systems—into energy, agriculture, buildings, industrial, and mobility policies.
• Engage with governments, private sector stakeholders, R&D institutions, and international partners to incorporate technology insights into policy and programmatic initiatives.
• Support multi-stakeholder consultations, through preparation of technical inputs, facilitation of expert discussions, and coordination of validation meetings and working groups.
• Support internal planning, reporting, and monitoring within the Technology Roadmap & Policy Unit, including preparation of work plans, progress reports, and analytical updates.
• Assist in the development of concept notes, analytical briefs, partner engagement material, and other documentation to support programme expansion, resource mobilisation, and strategic partnerships.
• Support to Member Countries: Provide targeted technical assistance across emerging technologies—including solar PV, storage, thermal systems, and circularity/waste management approaches—alongside strong stakeholder engagement and coordination support.
• Participate in technical missions, consultations, and workshops, representing ISA’s technical and policy perspectives and supporting Member Country engagement processes.
4. What You Will Need to Succeed
Education
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy, Technology Policy, Power Systems, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant technical experience. For candidates with a relevant Doctorate degree, the experience requirement shall be relaxed by three (3) years.
Required Experience
• Excellent understanding of solar and allied technologies
• Experience in technology assessment, technology planning/road mapping, technoeconomic analysis, policy analysis, or supply chain studies, including solar PV, storage, Integrated PV, and solar thermal technologies.
• Experience in intergovernmental, multilateral, research, or technical institutions working on clean energy or technology transition initiatives.
• Experience with modelling tools, analytical frameworks, standards-related work or circularity approaches is desirable.
• Hands-on experience conducting techno-economic analysis, such as LCOE modelling, cost benchmarking, scenario modelling, or system-level economic comparisons across solar and other clean technologies is desirable.
• Experience coordinating with government agencies, research institutions, private sector entities, or expert groups, including stakeholder consultations, is advantageous.
5 .Core Competencies
• Analytical mindset with strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities, able to translate data and technical insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Solid understanding of solar technologies, supply chains, and techno-economic modelling, with the ability to connect technological developments to real-world policy and market implications.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in another ISA Member Country language is a valuable asset that strengthens collaboration across regions.
• Equipped with a collaborative and high-performance skillset, including team co-creation, effective multitasking, and the ability to work independently with initiative and minimal supervision.
6. Your Place of Work
This position will be based at the ISA Headquarters, Delhi/Gurgaon, India, with international travel as required.
