Telco Regulatory Counsel

Axiom, a global leader in alternative legal services, is working with a well‑known telecommunications and technology company seeking an experienced regulatory lawyer to join their legal team. This will be a full‑time, 9‑12 month role, based in Sydney. It is an excellent opportunity to work with a high‑caliber team, providing thoughtful and practical legal guidance to a diverse group of internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, strategic, and commercially focused legal advice to support regulatory uplift programmes, business decision‑making, compliance, and customer outcomes.
- Offer ongoing legal support on regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with telecommunications laws, industry codes, and emerging digital platform regulations.
- Manage regulatory enforcement matters by mitigating legal risks, offering customer‑focused advice, supervising external resources, and ensuring timely stakeholder reporting.
- Promote legal and regulatory compliance through team training, education, and support for readiness and adherence to new and existing laws.
Qualifications
- Qualified Australian solicitor with over 5 years of legal experience, specialising in regulatory and telecommunications matters, and holding a law degree.
- Experience in telecommunications or regulatory fields, adept at working in fast‑paced environments and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Skilled in delivering commercially focused legal and regulatory support, with strong abilities in drafting, negotiation, project management, and communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard office tools, with effective communication skills across all organisational levels.
