The Mission Planning System Engineer is an expert in designing and implementing Mission Planning System solutions for Ground Segment of new constellations in different domains, e.g. Earth Observation, Optical Communication.
The Mission Planning System is in charge of generating the Mission Plan for the elaboration of the satellite Telecommands verifying the Mission Constraints, e.g. Power, Thermal, Guidance, Platform and Payloads constraints.
The Mission Planning System Engineer shall have hands-on experience (at least 5-7 years working experience) designing and coordinating the development of Mission Planning System solutions for satellite missions in different domains.
Candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment and should be familiar with Agile SCRUM methodology.
Activities/Responsibilities
Analysing the mission requirements and mission constraints to determine the satellite models to be adopted.
To design, coordinate the development of software solutions for Mission planning system also in big constellation scenarios.
To analyse and integrate external satellite models (e.g. external guidance libraries) into the Mission Planning system
To contribute to the technical project documentation (such as Requirements Documents, Operations Concept Document, Operations Engineering Plan, User and Administration Manual, Test Procedures, etc.)
To assist in project reviews if/when required
Competencies
Proven Knowledge of flight dynamics
Proven Experience in Mission Planning system design and implementation
Software Design Principles
Experience in Microservices applications design
Knowledge of Programming Languages: Java, Python
Knowledge of security coding standards (OWASP, CWE/SANS)
Knowledge of Container Orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc)
Master’s Degree in Aerospace, Automation and Information Engineering (5 years) with competences in flight dynamics
PHD in Aerospace matters is appreciated
High-level written and verbal English communication skills
Quality standards and provisions
Further Skills:
Knowledge about configuration management domain (GIT, GITLAB, etc)
Knowledge of software security mechanisms (encryption, signature)
Experience in Multiple technology stacks application development
Experience in system engineering, design and modelling
