About the job

The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is seeking a Senior News Producer to develop and help lead the production of long and short form video programming focused on politics and culture. The Senior Producer will assist the EP in leading a breaking news team, while also driving the development of live news, special election coverage and taped political news programming.

Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Assist in leading the production of current weekly political news shows for YouTube, FAST, Digital and Broadcast

+ Support the production and creative for live political event coverage for YouTube, FAST, Digital and Broadcast

+ Assist in managing and mentoring producers and editors on daily breaking news hits, daily and weekly shows and special political news coverage

+ Work with the EP to create a daily editorial news plan for all breaking news hits, shows and platforms

+ Institute best practice processes for all productions, live or taped

+ Strong Control room lead, including with breaking news

+ Stay current on YouTube platform developments, trends, and training

+ Perform other duties as assigned by EP of Hill Video News


Requirements & Skills:

+ Must have significant experience producing or as a senior producer for broadcast and digital in national newsroom or top market

+ Strong news judgement

+ Understanding of official Washington and national politics

+ Quick decision maker and creative thinker

+ Strong leadership skills, able to manage multiple people and projects

+ Extensive control room and studio experience in a fast-paced, breaking news environment

+ Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

+ Excellent broadcast writing skills

+ Superior video editing skills

+ Superior copy-editing skills are also a must

+ Must also be capable of interacting positively and productively with other employees all while understanding you are leading by example

+ Knowledge and familiarity with newsroom technologies including Adobe Premiere, ENPS, OBS, Photoshop

+ Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

+ Flexibility to work different shifts

Salary Range: $75,000 – $82,000
