Job Description

Job description

We are looking for a Thermal Systems Engineer to support the development of a next-generation vehicle platform in collaboration with engineering suppliers. This is a system-level role responsible for the end-to-end vehicle thermal architecture, covering HVAC, refrigerant systems, battery thermal management, and power electronics cooling. You’ll work at the intersection of battery, power electronics, controls, E/E architecture, and vehicle integration, driving technical alignment across multiple domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the vehicle thermal system architecture (refrigerant loop, coolant loops, layout, operating modes)

  • Lead design & integration of:

    • HVAC system

    • Chiller, water-cooled condenser

    • EXV/TXV, ECC, AC lines

    • Refrigerant sensors (OAT, AQS, in-cabin, LP/PT)

  • Define refrigerant system concepts (pressure levels, oil management, safety, leak detection)

  • Own thermal interfaces with:

    • Battery thermal management

    • Power electronics cooling (inverter, e-axle, DC/DC, OBC)

    • Cabin thermal comfort & waste heat recovery

  • Define thermal control strategies (heating, cooling, defrost, defog)

  • Develop diagnostics, fault handling, degraded modes, and service strategies

  • Work with TCU, VCU, and BMS interfaces

  • Define verification strategies, test cases, and acceptance criteria

  • Act as technical interface between internal teams and suppliers

Required Profile

  • Strong background in automotive thermal systems (HVAC & refrigerant systems)

  • Experience in EV / electrified vehicle platforms

  • Systems engineering mindset (requirements, interfaces, trade-offs)

  • Solid knowledge of:

    • Refrigerant thermodynamics & HVAC fundamentals

    • Heat pump systems

    • EV-specific thermal challenges

  • Experience in system architecture definition and validation

  • Strong analytical and cross-functional communication skills

If you want to design and own the complete thermal architecture of a next-generation electric vehicle platform, this role offers real system-level impact. Join a highly cross-functional environment where your expertise directly shapes vehicle performance, efficiency, and comfort.
