Job Overview

We are seeking a Trainee GIS Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Bengaluru location. This is a full-time, contract-to-hire position ideal for a fresher looking to start their career in geographic information systems. As a Trainee GIS Engineer, you will support our projects by contributing to mapping and spatial data analysis tasks. This opportunity allows for practical growth and skill development under expert guidance in a thriving, global IT services environment.

Qualifications and Skills

• Familiarity with ArcGIS to handle GIS data and tools effectively. This is a mandatory skill for this position.
• Experience with QGIS for spatial analysis and geospatial modeling; noted as a mandatory requirement.
• Hands-on proficiency with PostGIS to manage and query geospatial data in a database is mandatory.
• Understanding of Python programming for data analysis and developing GIS-based applications is needed.
• Knowledge of remote sensing to interpret and utilize satellite images and geographical data effectively is required.
• Proficiency in spatial data analysis for collecting and analyzing geographic data to produce maps and reports.
• AutoCAD Map 3D experience to create, analyze, and visualize spatial data in different formats is preferred.
• Experience with GPS technology is crucial for field data collection and real-time location services.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out geographic information system (GIS) development and analysis projects.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to gain insights into GIS applications, techniques, and best practices.
• Utilize ArcGIS and QGIS for spatial data processing, mapping, and visualization tasks.
• Apply Python scripting to automate GIS tasks and improve workflow efficiency.
• Engage in remote sensing projects and provide support in data interpretation and utilization.
• Conduct spatial data analysis to generate insightful reports and presentations for decision-making.
• Support the integration and conversion of data using AutoCAD Map 3D for enhanced geographic analysis.
• Participate in GPS technology usage for accurate field data collection and geospatial accuracy improvement.
