Job Description

Description:

Conduct test flights for all types of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), ensuring airworthiness, functionality, and performance across all operational modes, including manual, semi-autonomous, and fully autonomous flight profiles.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute pre-planned test flight missions for various UAV platforms—including light-lift, medium-lift, and heavy-lift fixed-wing, multi-rotor, and VTOL aircraft—in both indoor and outdoor controlled environments, covering manual, GPS-assisted, and fully autonomous flight modes.
  • Conduct runway take-offs and landings of fixed-wing UAVs manually using RC, ranging from several kilograms to hundreds of kilograms in weight, utilizing both electric and gasoline propulsion systems.
  • Perform comprehensive pre-flight inspections (PFIs), risk assessments, battery management, and post-flight data offloading and debriefing to ensure flight readiness and data integrity.
  • Monitor telemetry and flight data in real-time. Document detailed flight logs, incident reports, and performance metrics, communicating findings effectively to the engineering and design teams for iterative improvements.
  • Provide front-line technical support during flights, assisting engineering staff in diagnosing in-field issues and performing minor field repairs and software/firmware updates as required.
  • Assist in the development, refinement, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety checklists for flight test operations.
  • Potentially assist in training other personnel on best practices, flight operations, and safety protocols for new or specialized UAV systems.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/ bachelor’s degree in engineering / relevant field.
  • Experience with Ground Control Station (GCS) software beyond basic operation (e.G., Mission Planner, QGround Control, custom GCS software).
  • Familiarity with flight controllers (Pixhawk, ArduPilot, etc.).
  • Experience with calibration/testing of the different sensors mounted on board autopilot/UAV.
  • Familiarity with the electrical integration and wiring of the UAVs.
  • Understanding of different electrical wiring, connectors, PDBs, avionics and sensors used onboard on the UAVs.
  • Basic soldering and electrical troubleshooting skills.
