Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled professional with 2–6 years of experience in mortgage underwriting and collateral operations to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collateral review, underwriting criteria enforcement, pre-fund quality control (QC), and quality assurance (QA) reviews. This role requires strong command of credit risk policy and underwriting standards, with the ability to interpret and enforce policy decisions under tight timelines aligned with US market and business dynamics.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct collateral reviews to ensure compliance with underwriting criteria and credit risk policies.
- Perform pre-fund QC checks to validate loan documentation, borrower eligibility, and collateral accuracy.
- Execute QA reviews to identify gaps, errors, or inconsistencies in underwriting and collateral processes.
- Interpret and enforce credit risk policies across collateral review and QC activities.
- Deliver underwriting decisions consistently aligned with US mortgage market standards and business dynamics.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including risk management, compliance, and operations teams to resolve underwriting or collateral-related issues.
- Ensure timely execution of underwriting and collateral operations in a highly time-sensitive environment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of collateral reviews, QC findings, and underwriting decisions.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance underwriting and collateral review processes to improve efficiency and strengthen risk controls.
- Stay updated on US mortgage market trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in underwriting and collateral operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or related field.
- 2–6 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, collateral review, or credit risk operations.
- Strong understanding of US mortgage market dynamics, underwriting standards, and credit risk policies.
- Proficiency in mortgage underwriting systems, QC tools, and collateral review platforms.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex loan documentation and identify potential risks.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly present findings and recommendations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as Certified Residential Underwriter (CRU) or equivalent.
- Experience working with large-scale mortgage lenders, servicers, or financial institutions.
- Familiarity with US mortgage regulatory requirements and investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA).
