Underwriting Team Manager

Job Title: Team Leader – US Mortgage Underwriting (hiring for Captive Client)

Location: Pune (Work from Office)

Salary Budget: Up to ₹13,00,000 per annum

Experience: 6–9 years (Minimum 2–3 years as TL)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader – US Mortgage Underwriting to manage and mentor a team of underwriters while ensuring high-quality loan decisions in compliance with US mortgage guidelines. The role requires strong leadership, deep underwriting expertise, and a client-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of US Mortgage Underwriters

- Allocate files and ensure timely completion as per SLAs

- Perform complex underwriting decisions for Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans

- Ensure compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and investor guidelines

- Conduct quality checks, audits, and coaching sessions to improve accuracy

- Handle escalations, resolve underwriting issues, and communicate with clients

- Monitor productivity, TAT, and quality metrics for the team

- Prepare MIS reports and present performance updates to management

- Support process improvements and automation initiatives

- Assist in training new joiners and upskilling existing team members

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of US Mortgage End-to-End Underwriting

- Hands-on experience with Income, Asset, Credit, and Collateral Analysis

- Expertise in DU / LP findings interpretation

- Knowledge of ATR/QM rules and compliance standards

- Experience handling pre-close, post-close, and conditions clearance

- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

- Exposure to client interaction and audit handling is mandatory

Educational Qualification

- Graduate in any discipline (Finance/Commerce preferred)

- Relevant US Mortgage certifications are an added advantage
