Position at DNEG Job Description / Key Purpose of the Job:The Technology department at DNEG is responsible for creating and supporting the technology used by our artists and the software infrastructure required by a multi-site, global studio. With multiple film projects running in parallel, from the project's initial design, to production and post-production, there are complex problems, which arise through thousands of artists producing tens of thousands of shots and sharing assets.As an Unreal TD, you will be helping to drive how we can leverage Realtime software such as Epic’s Unreal Engine to meet the varying needs of Feature Animation.You will also be collaborating with production stakeholders and other members of the Technology group to develop efficient workflows and new technologies to maximize its impact on our production processes.Key Responsibilities / Job DutiesYou will be required to:
Design, develop and deliver tools for artists across various disciplinesCreate methods for integrating Unreal with DNEG’s proprietary pipelineAct as a technical point of contact for UnrealCollaborate with key production stakeholders in an agile development environment.Collaborate with other developers within Technology on how to best leverage UnrealWrite technical documentation and workflow guides for artists and developers to useValidate your work with methodical and rigorous testing.Ensure that bug reports and support requests are dealt with swiftly and efficientlyParticipate in agile ceremonies, attending department meeting and providing support to artists and peersProvide operational support for film projects using these toolsJob Requirements / Must HavesMust have:
A solid understanding of Unreal Editor, Unreal Engine, Blueprints, C++ APIs and PerforceExtensive programming experience in C++ & PythonExperience with source control systems and team development
Experience with Linux and WindowsIndustry experience in VFX, Feature Animation or GamesConfident in navigating ambiguity and providing solutions when problem solvingBe proactive and work with initiative, and comfortable with working in an agile environment with multiple prioritiesHas thorough understanding of and contributes to maintaining coding standardsAdditional Skills / Nice to HaveNice to have:
Experience developing artist tools for multiple platforms, namely Windows and LinuxExperience with Virtual Production, VFX and Feature Animation tools and workflowsExperience with multi-user Unreal developmentExperience developing VR/AR iOS appsExperience leading development projects including but not limited to scoping, prototyping, delegating etc.A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
