Role Purpose

Responsible for managing all indirect tax activities including tax compliances, business support activities, audit support and project management & support w.r.t tax activities. Schedule work assignments in all functional areas and provide day-to-day technical guidance and training to subordinate tax members to plan and ensure qualitative delivery of tax returns, applying appropriate control checks and based on complete business understanding, as per the planned timelines. Analyzes and interprets tax implications to provide management information on tax efficiency and savings. The role will also require close co-ordination with US based indirect tax team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyze, review, and ensure timely filing of US indirect tax returns (sales, use, and property tax) in assigned jurisdictions
  • Review US sales and property tax returns prepared by third-party providers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Oversee statutory indirect tax reporting across multiple states and local jurisdictions.
  • Ensure timely funding and payment of taxes, including preparation of funding requests, approval coordination, and reconciliation of payments.
  • Ensure strict SOX compliance across all tax processes and controls.
  • Monitor, identify, and ensure timely resolution of tax notices, audit issues, and non-compliance matters.
  • Support and manage state and local tax audits, including preparation and submission of accurate data, responses, and clarifications.
  • Coordinate with external auditors by providing required disclosures, statements, and audit confirmations.
  • Analyze tax implications of business operations and transactions within assigned jurisdictions.
  • Support tax planning initiatives to improve efficiency and optimize indirect tax costs.
  • Provide in-house indirect tax advisory support to business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on complex or high-risk matters as required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Ensure process documentation and SOPs are established, maintained, and updated in line with regulatory changes.
  • Lead implementation of process changes arising from changes in the tax landscape.
  • Support the indirect tax team with data validation, business license preparation, and audit support.
  • Act as a backup to the Senior Manager and support continuity of tax operations.

Key Skills & Experiences

Education Graduate Diploma in Financial Management/CA/CWA/MBA(F)/CPA

Experience With at least 6 years’ professional/management experience in US taxation and compliance.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Good understanding of indirect tax law and practical implications.
  • Good working knowledge of ERP environment.
  • Good experience will be required in Indirect Tax, P&L Analysis, Balance Sheet review and reconciliations, MIS reporting, possesses good analytical skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Follow the key controls & compliance requirements of the organization and understands the implication of non-compliances
  • Ability to understand, interpret and provide information and support to meet the audit requirements for their respective regions for internal and external audits including SOX audits
  • Possess good communication/presentation skills and overall, a pleasing personality. Must be willing to travel and flexibility around shift timings
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information
  • Demonstrate computer skills and proficiency with MS office software’s
