Job Description
We are hiring a seasoned, detail-driven Tax Preparer (CPA) to support ongoing federal, state, and local tax compliance work for a professional services organization.
This is a hands-on execution role , not advisory-only. You will be responsible for preparing accurate returns, supporting IRS-related matters, and maintaining clean, audit-ready documentation. Success in this role requires discipline, consistency, and the ability to work independently within defined systems and deadlines.

What You Will Do
Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and business entities
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all filings
Identify deductions, credits, and compliance issues during preparation
Research tax regulations to resolve filing or compliance questions
Support IRS notices and basic resolution documentation
Maintain clean, organized workpapers and tax records
Use Lacerte for tax preparation and Canopy for workflow and document management
Flag missing data or issues clearly and early
Stay current on tax law and filing requirement changes
What We’re Looking For (Non-Negotiables)
Active CPA license
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of hands-on tax preparation experience
Strong command of federal, state, and local tax rules
Proven accuracy under deadline pressure
Prior experience with Lacerte preferred
IRS notice or resolution experience is a plus
Strong written communication and documentation habits
Able to work independently in a remote environment
What Success Looks Like
On-time, accurate tax filings
Minimal rework or reviewer corrections
Complete, well-documented workpapers
Reliable output during peak tax season
Rate: $10–$11 per hour
Type: Full-time
Location: Remote
Work Schedule: Aligned to U. S. tax deadlines
