Job Description

Are you passionate about designing intuitive digital experiences and eager to make an impact in a collaborative, research-driven team?

Do you thrive on solving real user problems and want to grow your skills in UX, accessibility, and emerging technologies like AI?

About The Team

Elsevier aims to empower members of the academic community—administrators, faculty, and researchers—by designing solutions that truly make a difference. Our mission is to advance human progress together.

The Interfolio UX team is dedicated to supporting our goals by deeply understanding user needs through research, prioritizing accessible and inclusive design, and fostering a collaborative environment. As a fully remote team, we value intentional connection, continuous learning, and creating a safe, supportive space that inspires innovation and excellence in our work.

About The Role

As a UX Designer, you will partner closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and other key stakeholders. You will create alignment on problems to solve, develop high level workflows, and lead strategic thinking for enhancements to our complex, enterprise platform. You will own all aspects of the user experience, including user research to ensure the solutions are providing value to our clients and using our design system to ensure consistency with the larger portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to craft a delightful user experience that aligns with strategic goals for Interfolio and other relevant Elsevier products.
  • Conduct and collaborate on user research to understand user needs and inform your design decisions.
  • Produce detailed design deliverables (journey maps, wireframes, high-fidelity designs and/or prototypes) based on research and requirements.
  • Ensure your product designs meet the user’s needs, support business goals, are technically feasible, and are consistent with our design system.
  • Collaborate with designers on other products to create aligned experiences.
  • Effectively communicate designs and user research data to key stakeholders.
  • Help improve our design team practices and support other designers as needed, and engage with the design community at Elsevier.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 4–6 years of experience in user experience (UX) and user research is required.
  • Advanced technical proficiency with design tools, such as Figma, is expected.
  • Fluency in English is essential for effective communication.
  • Visual or artistic skills are not required; candidates should excel within a design system.
  • Experience in business-to-business (B2B) environments. Familiarity with accessibility standards is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Applicants should be able to present a comprehensive portfolio showcasing previous UX/UI or product design work, including user research.
  • Demonstrate experience in designing SAAS products; ideally in business-to-business (B2B) contexts.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt, particularly in areas related to artificial intelligence, is valued.
  • Candidates must be prepared to collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to team development.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a UX/UI or Product Designer.
  • A comprehensive portfolio showcasing a diverse range of work, including User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI) design, and User Research.
  • Depth knowledge of product design principles, user experience, information architecture, user flows, composition, layout, color, and typography.
  • Skilled in conducting, documenting, and synthesizing user research.
  • Proficient in creating wireframes, prototypes, and design concepts, and adept at iterating solutions based on feedback from other UX Designers using Figma or comparable tools.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, approach problems strategically, and clearly communicate design processes, concepts, and solutions.
