JD for VP of Quantum Data center
A VP of Quantum Data Center is a senior executive overseeing strategic planning, operations, budgeting and team leadership for data center facilities, ensuring maximum uptime, efficiency, security, and alignment with business goals, managing everything from critical MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) infrastructure to IT systems (servers, storage, network) and driving scalability, reliability, and innovation in a 24/7 environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop vision and roadmap for Quantum data center strategy, aligning with corporate goals, global expansion strategy and Hybrid Quantum classical workloads
Operations & Maintenance : Manage daily operations, ensuring 24/7 availability, reliability, and adherence to SLAs for power, cooling (HVAC, UPS, Generators), and physical security.
Infrastructure Management: Oversee server, storage (SAN), Quantum Computers (QC) network (cabling, infrastructure), cryogenic and virtualization platforms.
Quantum Supremacy: Ensure infrastructure to enable Quantum Supremacy
Team & Culture: Build, mentor, and lead large, global teams (operations, engineering, security, etc.), fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Financial Management: Develop and manage large operating and capital budgets, ensuring cost discipline and maximizing ROI.
Capacity Planning & Scalability: Translate business needs into data center requirements (space, power, cooling) for future growth.
Risk & Compliance: Lead disaster recovery, business continuity, security (SOC 2, NIST), and compliance efforts.
Vendor & Partner Management: Oversee relationships with external suppliers and partners.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Experience: 10-15+ years in data center/IT leadership, with significant experience in complex MEP systems, high-performance computing, or cloud infrastructure.
Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of data center infrastructure (electrical, mechanical, network, storage, cryogenic , Quantum computing , virtualization) and relevant management tools.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams, manage change, and drive performance.
Business Acumen: Strong financial management, strategic planning, and stakeholder communication skills.
Global expansion: Should have great vision to replicate QSC globally
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering, CS) often required; advanced degrees (MBA, Masters) preferred.
Core Focus Areas
Uptime & Reliability: Achieving and exceeding high availability targets (e.g., 99.999%+).
Quantum -Classical hybrid Integration: Providing key KPIs for integration and scheduling hybrid workloads across 15 applications specific labs of QSC
Efficiency: Optimizing energy usage (PUE) and operational costs through automation and process improvement.
Scalability: Ensuring infrastructure can rapidly scale to meet hyperscale demands.
