About the Business Unit
The Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct incorporates four custodial facilities located 6km north‑west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The four facilities consist of two maximum security prisons (HM Prison Barwon and Western Plains Correctional Centre) and medium security prisons (Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex). The BSW Prison Services Team provides both operational and administrative services to HMP Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex.
