The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Florida (), College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in French and Medieval Studies to begin August , 6. This is a one-year nine-month non-tenure accruing position with the possibility of renewal for one additional year.


The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a robust program in Foreign Languages and Literatures by performing the following duties: 1) Teach 2 courses per semester in French language, literature, and culture, including courses focused on the medieval period (some of which may be taught in English). 2) Participate in service, including advising students, contributing to departmental events, and collaborating with the Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies. 3) Engage in professional development and scholarly activities. 4) Explore and implement innovative pedagogical techniques.

Required Qualifications:

PhD by time of appointment in French, Romance Languages, Comparative Literature, or a related field. Research expertise in medieval French studies. Fluency in French. Ability to teach a range of French language, literature, and culture courses.
