Job Title: Telephony Engineer – Vonage

Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced Telephony Engineer with strong expertise in Vonage telephony systems to design, implement, and support enterprise-grade communication solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing cloud-based telephony platforms, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, configure and support highly scalable and reliable communications solution using Vonage Communications APIs.
  • Integrating voice, messaging (SMS/MMS) services into existing platforms.
  • Develop and maintain robust backend services and APIs, ensuring high availability and resilience of communication systems
  • Troubleshooting integration issues and ensuring secure and reliable communication services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective marketing solutions.
  • Perform system monitoring, upgrades, patches, and regular health checks to ensure high availability.
  • Provide L2/L3 support for telephony-related incidents and service requests.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Ensure compliance with security, performance, and reliability standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for issue resolution and enhancements.


Required Skills & Qualifications


  • 5+ years of experience as a Telephony Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Vonage telephony systems (Vonage Business, Vonage Communications APIs, or Contact Center solutions).
  • Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Java, C# or Python.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development, webhooks and asynchronous processing.
  • Solid understanding of VoIP technologies, SIP, RTP, PBX, and call routing concepts.
  • Experience with cloud-based telephony and unified communication platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.


Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills


  • Experience with CRM or third-party system integrations using Vonage/Twilio APIs.
  • Experience designing and developing microservices using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.X
  • Exposure to contact center solutions and call analytics/reporting.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and incident management.
  • Relevant certifications in VoIP or unified communications.
