VP Quality Engineering

Role Overview:

The Head of Quality Engineering will be a part of PEO (Polycab Excellence Office) and responsible for leading the quality function with a strong focus on defect and failure analysis, product and process improvement, and support for new product development. This role demands a deep technical understanding of cable manufacturing processes and materials, and aims to enhance operational efficiency, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Defect and Failure Analysis

Utilize structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools such as 5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone Diagram, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify and resolve underlying process or material issues.

2. Continuous Improvement & Corrective Actions

Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) in alignment with quality system standards.

Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process improvement tools (e.g., 5S, Kaizen) to enhance quality, reduce variability, and increase efficiency.

3. Product Development Support

Provide quality and manufacturability inputs from the early stages of product development.

4. Process Optimization & Operational Support

Use technical expertise to improve manufacturing processes .

Conduct process audits, oversee in-line inspection systems, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production.

5. Cost Optimization and Resource Efficiency

Develop and lead initiatives to reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ), optimize raw material consumption, and enhance material yield.
